What I Use

My house is full of computers and various other electronics.

My sister owns a White MacBook and an HP Pavilion s3100y desktop. She keeps her MacBook in her room and her desktop in our shared foyer. My parents use an HP Pavilion m8100y desktop which they keep in the kitchen. We also have two old Dell Dimension 8400 computers, one in our attic and one in my dad's study. I also have two computers. I keep my media editing computer (an HP Pavilion m9300t desktop) in our shared foyer, and my primary computer (an HP Pavilion dv9500t) in my room.

We also own a Nintendo Wii, which is in our basement. We rarely play it anymore. It's not out of a lack of interest, we're just too busy. Sometimes I'll go down there and play Wii Tennis for a few minutes, but not often. Also in the basement is our Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR2 HDTV. Our Wii gets its Internet connection through a Netgear WGX-102 Wireless Range Extender in the basement. We also have another one of these range extenders in our living room for providing a signal to the study computer. In our attic is a Sony Bravia KDL-26S3000 HDTV. We also own a Sony LocationFree Player LF-V30, which streams our cable TV to various devices. In my room I have a Panasonic CT-27D50 CRT TV, which I use solely for connecting to my laptop. My primary portable media player is my Apple iPod touch 16GB. I also own a Sony PSP-1001K which I only use as a portable TV screen (in conjunction with our LocationFree Player). I backup my laptop regularly to a 500GB Maxtor OneTouch III External Hard Drive. I have all my movies and TV shows (all of which I paid for) backed up to a 60GB Seagate Portable Hard Drive, which I've been meaning to take with me on trips. My sister backs up her desktop to a Maxtor OneTouch II 100GB External Hard Drive. My parents backup their desktop to a Maxtor OneTouch III Mini 160GB External Hard Drive. Although my editing workstation has two DVD drives, I also own a Sony DRX-S70U External DVD Drive for plugging into my laptop. Our primary wireless router is a D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme-N Wireless Router, which gets the connection from our Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem. Our printer situation is almost embarassing in its overkill nature. My sister and I print to an HP Photosmart C6180 Wireless All-In-One, which -- true to its name -- is networked for house-wide printing. My parents' computer prints to an HP Photosmart C4480 Printer/Copier/Scanner, which is not networkable. I have wired the printer to be shared through Windows when the kitchen computer is online. In our attic is an HP PSC 2510, which is also networked for printing from anywhere in the house. Finally, we have an HP Deskjet D1455 Printer in the study. I have also set up this printer to be shared via the study PC when it is online. My digital camera is a Canon PowerShot A540, which, although a few years old, still performs very well. My parents own a Canon Powershot SD850IS. In the tech cabinet that I mantain outside my room are two of our old wireless routers: a Belkin F5D7230-4 Wireless-G Router (our current travel router) and a Netgear WGR614v5 Wireless Router.
